Education Technology

Software Built Around How Institutions Actually Teach

We build LMS platforms, student information system integrations, and FERPA-compliant tools that fit real academic calendars, enrollment cycles, and accreditation needs.

Software That Understands Education

Education technology has to serve three very different audiences at once: administrators who need compliance and reporting, faculty who need low-friction tools that fit existing course design, and students who expect the polish of consumer apps. Software that only satisfies one of these groups gets abandoned within a semester, regardless of how well it was engineered.

Student data protection has its own regulatory language separate from general privacy law. FERPA governs access to education records, COPPA applies when users are under 13, and many states layer on additional student data privacy statutes. We design consent flows, data retention policies, and access controls around these overlapping requirements rather than treating student data like generic user data.

Institutions run on entrenched systems: Banner, PowerSchool, Canvas, and PeopleSoft SIS deployments that predate most vendors currently pitching integrations. Rostering standards like OneRoster and LTI 1.3 exist precisely because every institution's data model is slightly different, and we build against those standards so new tools sync enrollment, grades, and rosters without manual CSV exports.

Challenges

Common education software challenges

SIS and LMS Fragmentation

Syncing enrollment, grading, and roster data across disconnected student information systems and learning management platforms.

FERPA and Student Privacy

Protecting education records and minor user data under FERPA and COPPA while still enabling useful analytics and reporting.

Low Adoption Across User Groups

Building tools that administrators, faculty, and students will all actually use instead of working around within a single term.

Rigid Academic Calendar Constraints

Shipping and upgrading systems around semester boundaries where downtime during enrollment or finals is not an option.

Our approach

How Docorio helps you solve them

Standards-Based Integrations

We build against OneRoster and LTI 1.3 standards to sync rosters, grades, and course data across SIS and LMS platforms reliably.

FERPA-Aligned Data Architecture

We design access controls and retention policies mapped directly to FERPA and COPPA requirements for every system touching student records.

Role-Specific Experience Design

We design distinct, purpose-built interfaces for administrators, faculty, and students instead of a single compromised dashboard.

Calendar-Aware Deployment Planning

We schedule releases and migrations around academic terms, testing thoroughly before enrollment and finals windows to avoid disruption.
